NSA whistleblower: The C.I.A. and Saudi Arabia's Brutal State Police

ACLU: The ties between the NSA and CIA and the Kingdom's surveillance apparatus are rapidly growing after a National Intelligence policy expanding US Signals Intelligence cooperation with third parties. The US provides technical and material support to Saudi agencies such as the Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Interior in exchange for intelligence concerning individuals or entities of interest in the region.

How the NSA Helps Saudi Arabia Crack Down on Dissidents

Over the past year, the Saudi government has escalated its crackdown on activists, dissidents, and critics of the government. Earlier this month, Saudi human rights lawyer and activist Waleed Abu al-Khair was sentenced to 15 years in prison by a so-called “terrorist court” on charges of undermining the state and insulting the judiciary. In May, a liberal blogger, Raif Badawi, was sentenced to 10 years in prison and 1,000 lashes; in June, human rights activist Mukhlif Shammari was sentenced to five years in prison for writing about the mistreatment of Saudi women.

By providing technical assistance and decryption tools to the MOI, former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper gave the Saudi government the ability to improve their surveillance systems and spyware against political dissidents, bloggers, and human rights activists.

New accounts have emerged of alleged torture of high-profile political detainees in Saudi prisons, Human Rights Watch said today. Saudi authorities failed to independently and credibly investigate allegations that Saudi authorities tortured Saudi women’s rights activists and others, including with electric shocks, beatings, whippings, sexual harassment and sexually assaultng them.

The Saudi Ministry of Interior -- referred to in the leaked document as MOI -- has been condemned for years as one of the most brutal human rights violators in the world. In 2013, the U.S. State Department reported that "Ministry of Interior officials sometimes subjected prisoners and detainees to torture and other physical abuse," specifically mentioning a 2011 episode in which MOI agents allegedly "poured an antiseptic cleaning liquid down [the] throat" of one human rights activist. The report also notes the MOI's use of invasive surveillance targeted at political and religious dissidents.

But as the State Department publicly catalogued those very abuses, the NSA worked to provide increased surveillance assistance to the ministry that perpetrated them.

One secret 2007 NSA memo lists Saudi Arabia as one of four countries where the U.S. "has [an] interest in regime continuity."

The Saudi government represses all public dissent, and its notorious justice system flagrantly violates due process rights. It has a history of alleged espionage and infiltration of technology platforms, and of using cyber surveillance software to spy on dissidents.

I’m still waiting for Hollywood celebrities to hashtag outrage about Saudi abuses.

The Washington Post reported that Salem al-Mazini, a former Saudi official, wrote in a complaint filed in a Canadian court that he had been repeatedly beaten in the soles of his feet and back.

Beating with whips and iron rods, deprivation of food and electric shock were some of the other methods of torture against al-Mazini. He also explained that prison officials had forced him to walk on all fours and make dog noises.

The former Saudi official attached horrific images of torture and beatings to his body, and wrote that he was tortured by agents of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The Saudi and UAE embassies in Washington declined to comment after the report was leaked.

Twitter Spy Trial Keeps Jury in Dark on Saudi Torture Claims

Bloomberg: When Areej Al-Sadhan testified in the trial of a former Twitter Inc. employee who allegedly spied on her brother for Saudi Arabia, there was much to the story she couldn’t say.

She wasn’t allowed to say that Saudi secret police went on to abduct her brother, Abdulrahman Al-Sadhan, over his social media posts and that the Kingdom sentenced him to 20 years in prison. That he has been tortured with sleep deprivation and electric shocks. That his captors have smashed his fingers and beaten him so severely that he’d been sent to an intensive care unit.

Still, Areej Al-Sadhan’s testimony was a key piece of the US’s weeklong prosecution of Abouammo that demonstrated his ties to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS), the defacto Saudi ruler who has cracked down on domestic dissent, arresting scores of well-known clerics, businessmen, intellectuals and activists.

Through a top aide to the prince, Abouammo was allegedly bribed in exchange for personal information of Twitter users who used the platform to criticize the Saudi royal family.

Saudi vice defense minister meets NSA adviser Sullivan in Washington

May 17 (Reuters) - U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan reaffirmed President Joe Biden's commitment to "help Saudi Arabia defend its territory" during a meeting with Saudi Vice Minister of Defense Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud during a meeting on Tuesday, the White House said.

During the meeting Sullivan also underscored the longstanding partnership between the two nations, the White House said in a written statement.

"Mr Sullivan reaffirmed President Biden's commitment to help Saudi Arabia defend its territory, and expressed appreciation for Saudi Arabia's leadership in securing a UN-brokered truce in Yemen," the White House said. "They also discussed the importance of coordinating efforts to ensure global economic resilience."

CIA director Bill Burns secretly met with Saudi crown prince, report says, as US attempts to salvage tattered relations

BusinessInsider: CIA director Bill Burns secretly met Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman last month, The Wall Street Journal reported, in the latest attempt by senior US officials to try and patch up tattered relations with the Gulf state.

Burns and Crown Prince Mohammed, the de facto leader of Saudi Arabia, met in the city of Jeddah in mid-April, The Journal said, without giving further details.

Biden defends decision to visit Saudi Arabia: 'It is my job to keep our country strong and secure'

CNNPresident Joe Biden has defended his controversial visit to Saudi Arabia, saying the trip is critical to the security of the United States.

"As president, it is my job to keep our country strong and secure. We have to counter Russia's aggression, put ourselves in the best possible position to outcompete China, and work for greater stability in a consequential region of the world," Biden wrote Saturday in an op-ed for The Washington Post

The President's visit has drawn criticism given that US intelligence has deemed Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman responsible for ordering the murder of dissident journalist Jamal Khashoggi. As a candidate for President, Biden had pledged to make the kingdom a "pariah."

The NSA's New Partner in Spying: Saudi Arabia's Brutal State Police

Intercept: The National Security Agency significantly expanded its cooperative relationship with the Saudi Ministry of Interior, one of the world's most repressive and abusive government agencies. An April 2013 top secret memo provided by NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden details the agency's plans "to provide direct analytic and technical support" to the Saudis on "internal security" matters.

NSA expands spying cooperation with Saudi Arabia: Leaked memo

"With the approval of the Third Party SIGINT relationship," the memo reports, the NSA "intends to provide direct analytic and technical support to TAD." The goal is "to facilitate the Saudi government's ability to utilize SIGINT to locate and track individuals of mutual interest within Saudi Arabia."

Even before this new initiative, the NSA and CIA had been working with the Saudi regime to bolster "Internal security" and track alleged terrorists, the memo shows.

The NSA's formal "Third Party" relationship with the Saudis involves arming the Saudi Ministry of Defense with highly advanced surveillance technology. The NSA "provides technical advice on SIGINT topics such as data exploitation and target development to TAD," the memo says, "as well as a sensitive source collection capability."

According to the document, the intelligence collaboration between Washington and Riyadh has been like a two-way street, with both countries sharing information they secretly collect.

The United Nations and Human Rights Watch have recently condemned the kingdom's escalating crackdown on political activists, dissidents and critics of the government in recent years. In 2013, the US State Department reported that MOI subjected prisoners and opposition detainees to torture.

The embarrassing scandal around NSA spying activities started in June 2013 when Snowden leaked thousands of classified NSA documents to the media, detailing the surveillance programs used by US intelligence agencies.

LEAK: CIA Confirms Saudi Arabia Has Nuclear Bombs

BBC: In 2007, the US mission in Riyadh noted they were being asked questions by Pakistani diplomats about US knowledge of "Saudi-Pakistani nuclear cooperation".

The unnamed Pakistanis opined that "it is logical for the Saudis to step in as the physical 'protector'" of the Arab world by seeking nuclear weapons, according to one of the State Department cables posted by Wikileaks.

By the end of that decade Saudi princes and officials were giving explicit warnings of their intention to acquire nuclear weapons if Iran did.

Having warned the Americans in private for years, last year Saudi officials in Riyadh escalated it to a public warning, telling a journalist from the Times "it would be completely unacceptable to have Iran with a nuclear capability and not the kingdom".One senior Pakistani, speaking on background terms, confirmed the broad nature of the deal - probably unwritten - his country had reached with the kingdom and asked rhetorically "what did we think the Saudis were giving us all that money for? It wasn't charity."

And it is Israeli information - that Saudi Arabia is now ready to take delivery of finished warheads for its long-range missiles.

Report: Israel treating al-Qaida fighters wounded in Syria civil war

JPost: Israel has opened its borders with Syria in order to provide medical treatment to Nusra Front and al-Qaida fighters wounded in the ongoing civil war, according to The Wall Street Journal.

FreeThoughtProject: While publicly condemning a scant portion of the human rights violations routinely committed by the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the U.S. government has secretly been colluding with the brutal regime, which is currently funding the CIA’s covert operations in Syria. Instead of answering to the American people, the CIA has become the Saudi government’s obedient lapdog after accepting massive bribes for over three decades with total impunity.

According to a recent New York Times investigation, former President Obama covertly authorized the CIA to begin arming the Syrian rebels in 2013, with funding and weapons from Saudi Arabia and a few other countries. Code-named Timber Sycamore, the clandestine operation initially authorized the CIA to provide nonlethal assistance and training to the rebels but not weapons. A few months later, the president amended the parameters by allowing the CIA to arm the rebels and deliver lethal assistance while receiving funding and weapons from Saudi Arabia’s intelligence agency, the General Intelligence Directorate, including TOW anti-tank missiles and AK-47 assault rifles.

Besides Saudi Arabia, the CIA has also received covert financing from Qatar, Turkey, and Jordan in an effort to support the Syrian rebels (ISIS,  Nusra Front and al-Qaida).

Saudi Arabia has Been Tasking and Directly Funding CIA Black Ops

During the 1980s, the Saudis began bribing the CIA by helping to finance covert operations in Angola, spending millions of dollars to arm mujahedeen rebels fighting the Soviets in Afghanistan, and donating $32 million, paid through a Cayman Islands bank account, to fund contra rebels in Nicaragua during the Iran-Contra affair. In the 1990s, former CIA Director John Brennan was the agency’s station chief in Riyadh.

The U.S. government disclosed that the Saudi king has given President Obama and his family approximately $1.35 million in gifts. Before his passing last year, King Abdullah reportedly spent over $9.8 million on U.S. lobbyists between 2012 and 2013.

BOMBSHELL NSA MEMO: SAUDI ARABIA ORDERED ATTACK ON DAMASCUS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT WITH US KNOWLEDGE

The Intercept has just released a new top-secret NSA document unearthed from leaked intelligence files provided by Edward Snowden which reveals in stunning clarity that the armed opposition known as ISIS, in Syria was under the direct command of foreign governments from the early years of the war which has now claimed half a million lives.

The US intelligence memo – marked “Top Secret” – is arguably the most damning piece of evidence to date which gives internal US government confirmation of the direct role that both the Saudi and US governments played in fueling an armed insurgency which launched massive and well-coordinated attacks on civilians, civilian infrastructure, as well as military targets in pursuit of regime change. The NSA report is sourced to the intelligence agency’s controversial PRISM program – which gives the NSA the ability to sweep up all communications and data exchanged through major US internet service providers like Google. The memo focuses on events that unfolded outside Damascus in March of 2013.

One of the videos that Saudi-backed FSA fighters uploaded to YouTube identified by The Intercept as showing rockets launched on civilian areas of Damascus on March 18, 2013. US intelligence knew of the secret operation three days in advance yet did not stop it.

According to the document, the Free Syrian Army (FSA) was ordered to “light up Damascus” and “flatten” the Syrian capital’s international airport by Prince Salman bin Sultan – a prominent member of the Saudi royal family tasked with overseeing operations in Syria as a top Saudi intelligence officer. The document further reveals that the “Saudis sent 120 tons of explosives/weapons to opposition (ISIS) forces” – presumably in the lead up to the operation.

The report not only confirms that the assault happened, but that the Saudi government was “very pleased” with the outcome: “Attacks against airport, Presidential palace and other locations occurred on 18 March,” the memo reads. Also significant is that the memo confirms US intelligence foreknowledge of the attack on a major civilian airport: “Reports gave U.S. three days warning about 18 March 2013 attacks (2 year anniversary of revolution).”

According to The Intercept, various news reports from the time confirmed significant attacks and damage from FSA-fired rockets upon civilian areas. Not only is Damascus International Airport Syria’s main civilian transport hub – which was used by millions each year before the war – but it remained in daily operation for commercial flights in March 2013, when Saudi intelligence ordered the attacks with knowledge of US intelligence.

As The Intercept reports:

A number of videos posted by Syrian opposition media on the day of the attacks purport to show rebel fighters firing rockets at the same sites mentioned in the U.S. document. The March 2013 attacks in Damascus provide a concrete example of the role that foreign powers played in the day-to-day reality of the conflict. A number of videos posted by Syrian opposition media on the day of the attacks purport to show rebel fighters firing rockets at the same sites mentioned in the U.S. document. Local media reports from that day described an attack in which rockets struck within the areas of the presidential palace, a local government security branch, and the airport. A representative of the U.K.-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights quoted in a story the next day reporting the attacks, stating that they were unable to confirm whether they resulted in casualties.

However, The Intercept’s commentary is inaccurate in claiming that the Syrian Observatory (SOHR) did not report casualties from the attack as one of the Arabic news sources it links to above (Middle East based Alwatan News), reports:

“The Free Syrian Army targeted Kafr Sousa [an area of Damascus near Mezzeh] and they fired 24 missiles on Damascus airport… 60 people died in yesterday’s attacks, according to the Syrian Observatory.” [as translated by Zero Hedge]

And intense attacks continued through April and into the summer of 2013 according to international media reports from the time, also confirmed by a photo circulated through the AFP showing civilian passengers waiting in airport lounges the month following the initial March 2013 rocket attacks.

While the Saudi-US role in fueling the jihadist insurgency from the earliest days of the war in Syria has long been thoroughly documented, this latest leaked NSA bombshell report provides astoundingly clear proof that the relationship between the anti-Assad insurgents (ISIS) and foreign intelligence was even more direct, and existed earlier in time than most analyst and mainstream pundits led the public to believe.

9/11: C.I.A., Israel, Saudi Arabia

Newsweek: For hundreds of families and a growing number of former FBI agents, the grief of another 9/11 ceremony will be laced with barely muted rage: There remains a conspiracy of silence among high former U.S. and Saudi officials about the attacks.

"It's horrible. We still don't know what happened," said Ali Soufan, one of the lead FBI counterterrorism agents whom the CIA kept in the dark about the movements of the future Al-Qaeda hijackers. To Soufan and many other former national security officials, the unanswered questions about the events leading up to the September 11, 2001, attacks dwarf those about the assassination of John F. Kennedy, because "9/11 changed the whole world." It not only led to the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq, the fracturing of the Middle East and the global growth of Islamic militantism but also pushed the U.S. closer to being a virtual homeland-security police state.

In an astounding video interview with Richard Clarke, a White House counterterrorism adviser during the Bill Clinton and George W. Bush administrations, Clarke raged that top CIA officials, including director George Tenet, had withheld crucial information from him about Al-Qaeda's plotting and movements, including the arrival in the U.S. of future hijackers Khalid al-Mihdhar and Nawaf al-Hazmi.

In 2002, Tenet swore to Congress that he wasn't aware of the imminent threat because it came in a cable that wasn't marked urgent—and "no one read it." But his story was shredded five years later when Senators Ron Wyden and Kit Bond forced loose an executive summary of the CIA's own internal investigation of 9/11, which stated that "some 50 to 60 individuals read one or more of the six Agency cables containing travel information related to these terrorists."

Clarke went ballistic. Until then, he had trusted Tenet, a close colleague and friend, to tell the truth.

"I believed, for the longest time, that this was one or two low-level desk officers who got this [information about Hazmi and Mihdhar] and somehow didn't realize the significance," he told them. But "50—five oh—50 CIA officers knew this, and they included [Tenet and] all kinds of people who were regularly talking to me? Saying I'm pissed doesn't begin to describe it."

And then there's the continuing mystery of Saudi complicity with the hijackers.

Back in 2004, the official 9/11 Commission said it found no evidence that the "Saudi government as an institution, or senior Saudi officials individually funded" Al-Qaeda.

A year later, the highly redacted CIA inspector general's report cracked open another window, saying that some agency officers had "speculated" that "dissident sympathizers within the government" (i.e., religious extremists) may have supported bin Laden. Subsequent investigations have revealed that officials from the kingdom's Islamic affairs ministry were actively helping the hijackers get settled in California.

USA Today: New FBI documents link Saudi spy in California to 9/11 attacks

That story now appears to be false. The alleged aviation official was really a Saudi spy who reported directly to a Saudi prince who happened to be the kingdom’s influential ambassador in Washington and a close friend of President George W. Bush and other top U.S. government officials.

The document, which is heavily redacted, provides a summary of an FBI interview in 2015 with a man who had regular contact with Saudi nationals in the U.S. The man aided Nawaf al-Hazmi and Khalid al-Mihdhar, the first hijackers to arrive in the U.S., once they arrived in the country.

New York Post: How US covered up Saudi role in 9/11

... After he met on Sept. 13, 2001, with President Bush in the White House, where the two old family friends shared cigars on the Truman Balcony, the FBI evacuated dozens of Saudi officials from multiple cities, including at least one Osama bin Laden family member on the terror watch list. Instead of interrogating the Saudis, FBI agents acted as security escorts for them, even though it was known at the time that 15 of the 19 hijackers were Saudi citizens.

CBS News: Newly released video shows 9/11 hijackers with alleged Saudi intelligence operative

While President Biden signed an executive order last fall to declassify 9/11 evidence, the families of some 9/11 victims say they had to go through the British courts to get records and videos seized two decades ago from an alleged Saudi government operative that have never been public until now.

New York Times: The Saudi Connection: Inside the 9/11 Case That Divided the F.B.I.

One after another, the families asked Trump to release documents from the F.B.I.’s investigation into the 9/11 plot, documents that the Justice Department has long fought to keep secret. After so many years they needed closure, they said. They needed to know the truth. Some of the relatives reminded Trump that Presidents Bush and Obama blocked them from seeing the files, as did some of the F.B.I. bureaucrats the president so reviled. The visitors didn’t mention that they hoped to use the documents in a current federal lawsuit that accuses the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia — an American ally that has only grown closer under Trump — of complicity in the attacks.

Washington’s efforts to keep secrets about possible Saudi connections to 9/11 have also intensified. Former F.B.I. agents who have made court statements in support of the 9/11 families have been warned by the bureau that they risk violating secrecy laws. Kenneth Williams — a retired agent who wrote a prescient memo before 9/11 about radical Arab students taking flying lessons in possible preparation for hijackings — said in a sworn declaration for the plaintiffs that an F.B.I. lawyer told him that the Trump administration did not want him to help them because it could imperil “good relations with Saudi Arabia.”

The full story of the F.B.I.’s investigation into Saudi links to the 9/11 attacks has remained largely untold. Even the code name of the case — Operation Encore — has never been published before.

Haaretz: Report: Netanyahu Says 9/11 Terror Attacks Good for Israel

The Israeli newspaper Ma’ariv has reported that Israel’s former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has publicly said the September 11 attacks have been good for Israel. Netanyahu said, “We are benefiting from one thing, and that is the attack on the Twin Towers and Pentagon, and the American struggle in Iraq.” Netanyahu then reportedly said that these events “swung American public opinion in our favor.” Netanyahu’s comments came during a conference at Bar Ilan University.

Winter Watch: The FBI’s ‘Dancing Israelis’ Investigation Reveals Israeli Foreknowledge of 9/11

You’ve probably heard the 9/11 story of the “dancing Israelis.” You may even recall that most mainstream media at that time treated the story — if they covered it at all — as though it was a distasteful rumor or “canard”. Trump even made a dishonest implant reference to “dancing Arabs” in New Jersey that day.

Attorney General John Ashcroft personally signed off on the detainees’ release. Upon entering the private sector as a lobbyist and consultant in 2005, the Israeli government became one of Ashcroft’s first clients

Another leg of the investigation showed the presence of Urban Moving Systems (UMS) and Israeli nationals out near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, where a “plane” was alleged to have crashed. An interview with the owner of UMS revealed no deliveries outside of New Jersey.

The investigation turned up another Israeli New Jersey based “moving” outfit with direct links to one alleged “hijacker.”

The arresting officers said they saw a lot that aroused their suspicion about the men. One of the passengers had $4,700 in cash hidden in his sock. Another was carrying two foreign passports. Wikipedia: Peace dividend

Peace dividend was a political slogan popularized by US President George H.W. Bush[1] and UK Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in the light of the 1988–1991 dissolution of the Soviet Union, that described the economic benefit of a decrease in defense spending. The term was frequently used at the end of the Cold War, when many Western nations significantly cut military spending such as Britain's 1990 Options for Change defence review.

Peace Dividend: 1992 … The Promise

For America itself, freed from the burden of military competition with the Soviet Union, it was suggested that the country and its citizens would be the beneficiaries of a “peace dividend”. All that money that had been going to making war machinery and keeping the military on high alert against the threat of annihilation, could now be directed to a renewal of the American Dream and making America truly the greatest nation in history.

Unfortunately, there were other powerful individuals who had a different idea.

But the empire builders — what we now refer to as the neoconservatives or ‘neocons’ — weren’t going to take a back seat. They had a plan. It wasn’t even a secret plan. It was published on the internet and in political journals as the Project for the New American Century, and in books such as The Grand Chessboard by Zbigniew Brzezinski. America was declared the “exceptional” nation, chosen by destiny to lead the world into the new era of Pax Americana.

It was exactly what Dwight Eisenhower warned about in his farewell address as president:

“In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists, and will persist.”

To get us to go along with their self-serving and sociopathic agendas, they lied to us, took hundreds of billions — trillions — of our tax dollars under completely false pretenses, then wasted our money buying military junk we don’t need to fight wars that never had to have happened.

The peace dividend was buried under mountains of debt and dead bodies.

Forbes: What The End Of The ‘Peace Dividend’ Will Mean for Americans

In his State of the Union address, President Biden highlighted Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and how the US and its NATO partners have coalesced to stop Russian aggression. However, he stopped short of indicating what a lengthy conflict would mean for Americans.

While investors currently are focused on the near-term impact of the invasion on the global economy and markets, the experience of the Cold War suggests it will also have significant long-term repercussions.

In December, Biden signed a $768 billion defense policy bill that represented a 5% increase in military spending. However, it was nearly $50 billion larger than his original request, as both Democrats and Republicans believed Biden’s proposal was insufficient to counter military advances by China and Russia. Now, in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Republicans and some Democrats are likely to call for a larger allocation.

America’s hegemonic military agenda has reached a dangerous threshold: The assassination of IRG General Soleimani ordered by Donald Trump in early January was tantamount to an Act of War against Iran.

Israel’s diabolical objective is “To Take Out” Palestine, with the support of the US, as part of "The Greater Israel Project."

Former President Donald Trump confirmed his support of Israel’s illegal settlements and his opposition to United Nations Security Council Resolution 2334, which confirms the illegality of the Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank.

According to the founding father of Zionism Theodore Herzl, “the area of the Jewish State stretches: “From the Brook of Egypt to the Euphrates.” According to Rabbi Fischmann, “The Promised Land extends from the River of Egypt up to the Euphrates, it includes parts of Syria and Lebanon.”

The plan operates on two essential premises. To survive, Israel must 1) become an imperial regional power, and 2) must effect the division of the whole area into small states by the dissolution of all existing Arab states. Small here will depend on the ethnic or sectarian composition of each state.

While lip service is paid to the idea of the “defense of the West” from Soviet power, the real aim of the Israeli establishment is clear: To make an Imperial Israel into a world power.

Truth is treason in an Empire of Lies, because you can't tell the truth about what the government is doing.

Biden, Trump and Obama have all followed Bush and Cheney's deep state plans to destroy the Middle East. Before the terrorist attacks on 9/11 America tried to build an oil pipeline from Afghanistan in to Europe but the Taliban would not accept America's low ball offer. Soon after that the attacks on 9/11 occurred and next thing we knew we were at war with Afghanistan and the Taliban for the next 20 years.

The U.S. government is extraditing Julian Assange in order to put him on trial for publicizing a video of U.S. troops committing war crimes in Iraq.

The US government has spent the last decade pursuing Assange while failing to pursue any of the war crimes by U.S. military personnel that Assange and WikiLeaks revealed in 2010.

Documents and videos about the Iraq and Afghan wars that WikiLeaks released in 2010, include footage of a U.S. helicopter killing [and laughing about] civilians in Baghdad.

If we allow the US to declare war on those who tell the truth, we have only ourselves to blame.

NATO is essentially going to war with Russia through a proxy and arming that proxy. War means war.

The proxy war in Ukraine is emerging increasingly openly as a war between Russia and NATO, threatening to spill over into a war throughout the European continent. The United States has worked to systematically destroy any prospect of a peaceful settlement of the war and is instead doing everything to fan the flames to instigate the conflict.

READ MORE: Exclusive: Secret CIA training program in Ukraine helped Kyiv prepare for Russian invasion

The aims being pursued increasingly openly by the United States in this war inevitably involve the expansion of the conflict. There is nothing left of the fiction that the United States and NATO are not at war with Russia. In pursuit of regime change, the dismemberment of Russia and the plundering of its vast resources, American imperialism is risking nuclear war.
